Delphi Resort

Certification: Green Hospitality Eco-Label County: Galway (Leenane, northwest Connemara) Type: 4-star adventure resort and spa

Delphi Resort holds the Green Hospitality Eco-Label, independently assessed under Ireland’s hospitality sector environmental standard. The resort has implemented a documented Environmental Management System that reflects its position within one of Ireland’s most dramatic mountain and fjord landscapes.

The Certification

The Green Hospitality Eco-Label is the foundation level of the Green Hospitality Programme, Ireland’s hospitality sector environmental standard, independently audited under ISO 17065. Eco-Label certification requires the implementation and independent assessment of a documented Environmental Management System covering energy, water, waste, biodiversity, and community engagement.

The Resort and Setting

Delphi Resort is a 4-star adventure resort and spa at the foot of Mweelrea, Connacht’s highest mountain, on the shores of Delphi Lough in the Bundorragha Valley in northwest Connemara. The resort has 68 rooms and spa facilities, plus an activity centre offering surfing, kayaking, rock climbing, zip-lining, and hill walking.

The Delphi Valley is one of the wildest landscapes in Ireland: the glacial valley between the Sheeffry Hills and the Mweelrea range, draining into Killary Harbour, Ireland’s only fjord. The resort occupies this landscape both as a commercial hospitality operation and as a working environment where the natural setting is the product. Environmental management at this level of wilderness is therefore intrinsic to the business.
