The Inn at Dromoland holds Green Hospitality Platinum accreditation, the highest level of Ireland’s hospitality sector environmental certification. It is one of seven hotels in Ireland to have achieved Platinum status under the Green Hospitality Programme and one of three Clare hotels in that group.
The Inn at Dromoland is part of the broader Dromoland Estate, the estate that includes Dromoland Castle Hotel. The Inn is the more accessible and mid-market property on the same estate, offering full hotel services at a lower price point than the Castle, with the same location and the same Platinum-level environmental certification.
The Certification
Green Hospitality Platinum is the highest level of the Green Hospitality Programme, Ireland’s hospitality sector environmental certification operated under ISO 17065 standards. Platinum requires documented, independently audited performance across energy management, water usage, and waste reduction, going beyond the standards required for Gold or Eco-Label certification.
The Inn at Dromoland first achieved Platinum status in 2011 and has maintained its certification through ongoing annual audit and review.
The Hotel
The Inn at Dromoland is a 155-room 4-star hotel on the Dromoland Estate in County Clare, 10km from Ennis and 18km from Shannon Airport. The property includes a fully equipped health and fitness club, an indoor swimming pool, Shannigans Gastro Pub, and Deerfields Restaurant.
The estate’s sustainability practices are embedded across purchasing, catering, and grounds management. Natural fertiliser is produced on-site and composting of food and coffee waste is standard practice. A green purchasing policy applies across the hotel’s supply chain, prioritising local Clare and Irish suppliers.
Shannon Airport (18km) makes the Inn at Dromoland one of the most practically accessible certified eco hotels in Ireland for international travellers.
