Regional Sustainability Networks
Several Irish regions have developed their own sustainability networks and certification programmes, tailored to the specific landscapes, communities, and tourism challenges of their area.
Burren Ecotourism Network
The Burren Ecotourism Network certifies tourism businesses in the Burren and Cliffs of Moher UNESCO Global Geopark region of County Clare. Members demonstrate commitment to protecting the Burren’s unique karst landscape, flora, and heritage. The Emerald level represents the highest commitment.
Sustainable Tourism Network
Regional Sustainable Tourism Networks operate across Ireland, bringing together tourism businesses committed to environmental and social sustainability in their area. Gold members have demonstrated the highest levels of engagement and practice.
Failte Ireland Approved
Failte Ireland’s quality assurance programme provides an independent assessment of accommodation standards across Ireland. While primarily a quality mark, it includes environmental and sustainability criteria as part of its assessment framework.
